    Copenhagen Admiral Hotel
    Address: Toldbodgade 24-28
    Zip Code: 1253
    City: Copengagen
    Country: Denmark
    Tel: +45 3374 1414
    Fax: +45 3374 1416
    Url: http://www.admiralhotel.dk

Copenhagen Admiral Hotel is housed in a more than 200-year-old
grain-drying warehouse from 1787. For centuries, this building
and location on the waterfront have been at the epicentre of
    amazing events.

The grain-drying warehouse, built by the merchant company
Pingel, Meyer, Prtorius & Co, has been historically preserved.
The warehouse is built from the finest raw materials, and in all
its architectural splendour stands as an eloquent testimonial to
the prosperous trading period of the 1780s. The building’s
impressive joists are made of pine from the great forests of
Pomerania, today northern Germany and Poland.

This was the era of the great sailing ships and a time when the
port was bustling with lively activity. The warehouse stands right
at the spot that was the heart of all maritime traffic to the rest
of Denmark and the world. The two warehouses making up the Admiral
Hotel capacitated 30,000 barrels of grain, and a grain-drying oven,
sponsored by the royal family, was constructed where our Night
club Nautilus lies today. The midsection joining the two warehouses,
which today holds our lifts, etc., was built 100 years after the
warehouses, around the end of the 19th century.

Fire became the city’s enemy. In 1728 and 1759, fires ravaged
the alleys behind the ramparts. And on 26 February 1794, at 3pm,
the monarch’s residency, Christiansborg Castle, was ablaze. The
royal family was hastily evacuated, and all citizens lent
their assistance in a frantic effort to extinguish the fire with
hand-driven pumps and water buckets, which were passed from hand
to hand in living chains from the canals.

The fire in Christiansborg Castle brought the warehouse and
granary an unexpected neighbour. The royal family stood without
a home and, opposite Toldbodgade, four rich families from the
aristocracy had asked the famous architect Nicolai Eigtved to
design four rococo-style palaces surrounding an octagonal piazza.
The autocratic monarch, King Christian VII, acquired all of
    Amalienborg and moved in.

Copenhagen quickly recovered from the fires. But England felt
that the Danish merchant fleet threatened its sovereignty over
the world’s seas, and on 2 April 1801, Admiral Lord Nelson made
his move. The famous “Battle of Copenhagen” in 1801 took place
virtually right outside the warehouse windows, and if someone
sought refuge behind its thick walls, he may have witnessed when
the one-eyed English admiral, Lord Nelson, who lead the attack
against Copenhagen, put his telescope to his blind eye to avoid
seeing his superior’s signal to retreat.

On 3 August 1807, an enormous English fleet closed in on
Copenhagen, which braced itself for a new siege. The enemy’s
artillery, consisting of bombs and rockets never seen before,
whistled over the warehouse, leaving the streets flooded with
homeless, wounded and dead people among the burning ruins. Many of
the wounded were quartered in our nightclub, where the old grain
    -drying oven used to be.

Already when the hotel opened, the project involving the restoration
of the old building received a diploma from Europa Nostra, an
international organisation working to protect Europe’s cultural
and natural heritage. Europa Nostra cited as its motivation for
giving us the diploma: ‘this is a project that greatly contributes
to the protection and enhancement of European architecture”.

With the royal palace on its starboard side and central Copenhagen
on its port side, Copenhagen Admiral Hotel stands as a Danish and
international flagship, where culture, design and service are alpha
and omega. In every way, our guests find themselves nestled between
    the past and the future.

The hotel has 366 single, double and twin rooms including 52 suites
all fitted into the 200-year-old building. All rooms have been
equipped with new special designed furniture made of solid teak
in consultation with the Danish company Trip Trap.

All rooms have wireless broad band connection and an avanced
    Radio- and Tv-system with video-on-demand.

All rooms are larger than average of both Danish and international
hotel rooms. Much emphasis has been put into combining the
maritime atmosphere with the unique historical warehouse. The hotel
is situated at one of Copenhagen's most beautiful and fashionable
    addresses right on the waterfront.

Closest neighbours are Amalienborg Castle (the Queen's Palace)
    and the beautiful park Amaliehaven.

The exciting layout of the hotel's senior and conference suites,
including new conference sections with wood flooring, and
impressive solid conference tables, ships dcor, and Trip Trap's
famous deckchair, completes the maritime theme and creates an
unparalleled conference setting. The upper levels offer an easterly
view over the harbour promenade, and the tranquil inner harbour,
and to the west, a magnificent view of the old city's towers and
spires with Amalienborg in the foreground.

The large suites are beautiful rooms, luxuriously equipped on
    one or two levels.

In the junior suites, an attractive sweeping stairway leads from
the sitting area up to the sleeping area. The sloping walls,
thick brick and solid woodwork make for an extremely attractive
    atmosphere.

Used for hundreds of years to create light below deck on the
large sailing ships, the characteristic ships grating have been
    retained throughout.

    Restaurant

Salt bar is placed in a very lively part of the hotel, close to
    the reception.

A great place to meet, have a cocktail before or after dinner or
just to sit and enjoy a drink while observing the many activities
    in the lobby.

Copenhagen night-life can be found right at the hotel. Below the
vaulted ceiling is Nautilus - the hotel's own nightclub.

Open Monday through Saturday - Nautilus offers exciting
surroundings, great music and lots of action. And the best part
is that "home" is just an elevator ride away.

We have outdoor service during the summer. Here soft drinks,
coffee, tea and cold and warm lunch- and dinner courses are served.

71 Nyhavn Hotel is a charming first class hotel located in central
Copenhagen at the end of the Nyhavn Canal in two of the harbour's
    old warehouses.

The warehouse was originally used for storage of spices and other
articles of commerce from the Far East. As lorries and planes began
to take over a great deal of the overseas trade, the importance of
    the warehouse was somewhat diminished.

Consequently it was turned into a storage room for furniture.

Everywhere at the hotel you can still see the original rafters made
of Pommeranian pine, making you sense an atmosphere of a time gone by.

The hotel was thoroughly renovated in June 2001, and today it appears
as a first class hotel with a charming and rustic atmosphere. With
the fantastic location on the corner of the harbour and the Nyhavn
Canal, the 150 rooms offer a splendid framework and setting for your

old warehouses in historic Copenhagen just a few minutes walk from
The Royal Theatre, The Royal Palace and "Strget" - the famous
    pedestrian street.

With memories of a past history as the old Suhr-warehouse and the
Global-warehouse, the charming hotel offers you a historic and rustic
    atmosphere. Renovated in June 2001.

150 rooms and suites, all with shower of bathtub, toilet, trouser
press, hair dryer, minibar, telephone, radio and satellite-TV. Many

Hotel Christian IV dates back to 1958.

The name of the hotel refers to the Danish king Christian IV, who
built the beautiful little palace, Rosenborg Castle, located adjacent
to the hotel. The premises was meant to link together the 200 years
old houses facing The King's Garden, the Rosenborg Castle and the
    district's newly developed buildings.

The result is a small and cosy hotel which provides personal
attention and professional service for all guests.

Many guests repeatedly return to our cosy hotel due to this fact.
Try and turn a few pages in the guest book in the reception - its
entries tell a lot about the staff's involvement and the cosiness
    of the the hotel.

Beautifully and quietly located hotel by the park "Kongens Have"
and just a few minutes' walk from the exciting pedestrian street
"Strget", The Royal Palace, The Royal Theatre and Nyhavn.
